The universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are all placed in the coveted top 200 of the THE World Rankings published today. The universities of Dundee and St Andrews are also ranked in the top 250 institutions in the world.
The University of Edinburgh has retained its place at 30th in the rankings while the University of Glasgow has risen from 92 to 86. The University of Aberdeen has moved up 20 places from 178 to 158.
The table is based on thirteen performance indicators that measure university performance across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
THE analysis suggests that universities publishing ‘high impact research’ on COVID-19 have risen most in this year’s rankings. Looking internationally, China now has ten institutions in the top 200 and two in the top 20 while universities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt are the most improved since 2018.
At the top of the table, the University of Oxford remains at number 1 for the sixth consecutive year.
